Die For You

VALORANT Champions ’21 Anthem

Music Video

To hype VALORANT Champions, the first global championship for Riot Games’ tactical shooter, we created the animated music video Die For You. With VALORANT Champions Tour still in its first year, we set out to establish a distinct visual identity that blended competitive gameplay, lore, and the game’s signature style.

We partnered with Grabbitz to produce a killer original track and collaborated with The Line Animation to deliver a visually stunning film. The animation immerses fans in the extraordinary subconscious worlds of three VALORANT agents as they battle a mysterious enemy to protect Alpha Earth's most precious resource, Radianite.

With fans and veteran players coming over from other franchises, the music video’s cinematic storytelling and bold art direction immersed audiences in VALORANT’s universe. With over 102 million YouTube views worldwide, Die For You became an instant fan favorite and a defining moment in VCT history.

Art Direction

Early on, we chose an anime-inspired animation style, both as a medium we love and one that’s popular with fans. It felt right for the story we wanted to tell. From there, we designed each world around how we imagined the agents’ inner fears might take shape. We drew from the IP to complete the visual aesthetic and combined them into one intense battle on VAL’s Split map.

I co-developed the visual concept with my CD and created the vendor brief. I oversaw art development, including character designs, environments, and color scripts. Together, we led development and reviewed previs and animatics to deliver the final film.

Characters
+ Weapons

We set out to design player characters that fans could relate to and give VAL agents the ability to express deep emotion and introspection—something we rarely get to see on screen. The fun part of the process was bringing an arsenal of VAL weapons to life.

The final film is a vibrant mix of colors, textures, and explosions, wrapped up in a fast-paced firefight.
